eMobility Exchange Showcases what Further Education and Training (FET) has to Offer

SOLAS was delighted to welcome Minister Marian Harkin TD to our eMobility Exchange event at Cathal Brugha Barracks on Tuesday 7th July. The event brought together representatives from industry, the Education and Training Boards (ETBs) and Government to highlight emerging skills needs across the eMobility sector, standards development and to showcase what further education and training (FET) has to offer to support Ireland's green transition.
 
eMobility is a rapidly expanding sector, and the FET sector in Ireland is uniquely positioned to address the evolving labour market needs through flexible and responsive provision. SOLAS’ national FET Green Skills 2030 strategy and implementation plan is driving Ireland's climate-ready workforce and positioning Ireland as a leader in emerging green industries such as the eMobility sector. We are working in partnership with ETBs, industry and Government to progress the green transition in the FET sector and support climate action in Ireland, through the nationwide roll-out of a Green Skills suite of FET programmes ensuring every FET learner is equipped with the skills to become agents of change in climate action.
 
Contributors from the day included Minister Harkin, Con Ferry (SOLAS), Blake Boland (Dublin Bus), Fergal Finn (NSAI), Siobhan Lynch (LWETB), Grainne Timlin (SOLAS), and representatives from the Defence Forces. We were also delighted to welcome Colin Walsh, SIMI and General Officer Commanding 2 Brigade, Brigadier General Stephen Ryan. MKW Motors led a practical series of demonstrations on electric vehicles components.
