SOLAS (An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna), the Further Education and Training Authority of Ireland was established on 27 October 2013. Its mission is to fund, co-ordinate and monitor a range of Further Education and Training (FET) provision to support economic and social wellbeing, while simultaneously playing its part in influencing and supporting the development of a FET sector that is more responsive to the needs of learners and employers. Set out in the Education and Training Act, 2013.
SOLAS is an agency of the newly formed Department of Higher Education, Innovation and Science. It works in close collaboration with Education and Training Boards (ETBs) on provision of high-quality further education and training, equipping learners with relevant skills and knowledge, providing a pipeline of talent into employment and to the Irish economy and society. Working with sister agencies, SOLAS leads actions in key policy and strategy documents including the most recent Further Education and Training (FET) Strategy 2020 – 2024, the evaluation of the National Youthreach Programmes (2019), the National Skills Strategy 2025 and others.
SOLAS is recruiting a Manager (Grade 6) to lead development of digital learning services. This exciting role involves the development and management of eCollege and strategic innovation in online and blended learning in further education and training (FET) nationally.
Key deliverables include further expansion of the national eCollege service, growth in digital learning options within further education and training, and digital transformation initiatives to achieve the goals in the Further Education and Training Strategy 2020-2024.
The successful applicant will play a lead role in opening up technology-enhanced learning to learners of all ages and backgrounds. Success will be achieved through strong partnership with learner and enterprise representatives, Education and Training Boards (ETBs) and the wider further education and training community.
This is a permanent position for which the salary scale ranges from €68,954 to €89,480 per annum (inclusive of two long service increments) for a 37-hour week. Starting pay will be at the minimum point of the scale as per Government Circular E100/8/82. Exceptional circumstances may apply for candidates with current service in the Civil/Public service.
